The company

Tony Salemi, President and CEO

MicrobeGuard designs, makes and sells antimicrobial paper products that inhibit microbial growth and extend the shelf life of food. It was first to market in antimicrobial active packaging: a product that goes straight to the bottom line of grocers, food processors and the rest of the food services industry, and helps recover food that would otherwise be wasted.

The challenge

The challenge

From its founding in 2001, MicrobeGuard found it hard to build investor interest in an industry most people had never heard of.

The bigger problem was structural. The company's original business structure did not allow for outside investment, so it had to be rebuilt before any raise could start.

What Deal Box built

What Deal Box built

Deal Box ran its investment packaging process and restructured the shares for a direct offering under Rule 506(c). With the equity set up to take investment and the package in place, the business could speak for itself, and the investment followed.

The outcome

The outcome

MicrobeGuard closed a $200,000 seed round and made its first official product launch.
